Menekse Toprak is a Turkish writer and radio programmer. She graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences, Ankara, Turkey. She lives between Berlin and Istanbul.

 

Her first book, a collection of stories "Valizdeki Mektup (The Letter in the Suitcase)” was published in 2007 followed by the second collection “Hangi Dildedir Aşk (In Which Language Speaks Love)”. She has also published two novels, “Temmuz Çocukları (Children of July)” and “Ağıtın Sonu (The End of the Elegy)”. Her second novel won the Duygu Asena Novel Prize 2015. Her stories have been translated into German, French and English.


Her articles and stories have appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies, such as "Istanbul in Women Stories" and "Ankara in Women Stories".
