In Memoriam: 1959 - 2015

A native of Beijing, China, Li Yiding graduated from the Composition Department of Shenyang Conservatory of Music and received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1982. She worked as the senior composer for China Central Television and China TV Drama Production Center (CTPC) in Beijing.

Her music has been performed in London, Washington D.C., Seoul, Hong Kong, Los Angeles, Miami, Rome, Chicago, Qingdao, Shenyang, Beijing, and many other cities.

 

Her works have been played by such groups as the China National Symphony Orchestra, Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra, the Orchestra of Shenyang Conservatory of Music (China), the Price Duo, CUBE, the New Asia Quartet (Korea), and performers Deon Price (US), Sara Torquati (Italy), Albert Sassmann (Austria), Friedrich Gauwerky (Germany), Patricia Morehead (US), and others. As a representative of Chinese composers, Li Yiding toured the United States, England, Korea, Pakistan, Hong Kong, and other countries.


She was a prolific composer of both concert music and film-teleplay music. She has written soundtracks for more than 14 films and 80 teleplays. She has published over 100 songs, as well as articles and recordings of her music. She has been awarded various prizes for a total 17 films and teleplays.

 

She was the International Liaison from China and a Board member of the International Alliance for Women in Music and was the Vice President of the Chinese Woman Composers' Association (CWCA).
