I knew going to Civitella would be partly about missing my family, and partly about reconnecting with my work. In my "normal" life I usually have 15 minutes here, an hour there, little windows of time to do my creative work. I honestly wasn't sure if I would know what to do with six weeks of uninterrupted time...To my relief I hit the ground running and got straight into a project the first week, and then settled into a routine - eventually finishing a big composition and a big recording project, and was continually inspired by the work of my amazing colleagues, not to mention the unbelievable food and great field trips. I expect these new pieces and new collaborations to bear even more fruit in the coming months and beyond.
